The film, based on Colleen Hoover's bestselling novel, tells the story of an abusive relationship and has faced criticism for its portrayal of the subject matter. Despite this, it achieved box office success, opening in US theaters on August 9.

Baldoni took to Instagram to collaborate with Survivor Love Letter, posting a heartfelt message to survivors.
