The Kerala government is rolling out a major promotional campaign and a bloggers' meet in Wayanad ahead of the Onam season to address tourists' fears regarding the district's safety following recent landslides.
In an interview, Kerala Tourism and Public Works Minister P A Mohammed Riyas expressed concern that the July 30 catastrophe, which impacted only parts of Wayanad, has been misconstrued as a district-wide disaster, prompting a wave of resort booking cancellations.
Riyas emphasized that while the landslides in Chooralmala were catastrophic, they did not impact Wayanad's primary tourist destinations. The state government is determined to dispel the negative image through a vigorous social media campaign, encouraging all to share their favorite Kerala spots using the hashtag 'my Kerala is ever beautiful.'
