Creators of 'Gangs of Wasseypur' Reunite for New Web Series 'Badshah of Begusarai'

Filmmaker Sunil Bohra and writer Akhilesh Jaiswal, renowned for their work on 'Gangs of Wasseypur', have joined forces once more for an upcoming web series titled 'Badshah of Begusarai'. According to information from the production team, the new series will be set against the raw and gritty backdrop of Bihar.

Producer Sunil Bohra expressed his excitement about the project, indicating it will evoke the thrill and anticipation reminiscent of 'Gangs of Wasseypur'. The team aims to offer a groundbreaking and unforgettable experience, delving deeper into the essence of the criminal underworld. Writer-Director Akhilesh Jaiswal added that the project allows him to explore dark, complex, and unique characters, making the entire process both challenging and exhilarating.

The production of 'Badshah of Begusarai' is scheduled to commence in early 2025. This announcement coincides with the re-release of 'Gangs of Wasseypur' in theaters. The original film, directed by Anurag Kashyap, revolves around a gangster's clash with a coal mining mafia and features an ensemble cast including Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Manoj Bajpayee, Huma Qureshi, Richa Chadda, and Tigmanshu Dhulia. Released on June 22, 2012, it received critical acclaim and was a box office success.
