During an afternoon briefing, Gresham Fire Chief Scott Lewis revealed that fire crews are dealing with significant structural damage to the homes impacted by the crash. Visuals from KGW-TV depict one townhouse engulfed in flames, with black smoke billowing from adjacent houses. The fire spread to at least four homes, displacing six families. Two individuals received on-site medical treatment for unspecified injuries.

The aircraft involved, identified by the Federal Aviation Administration as a twin-engine Cessna 421C, crashed around 10:30 am near Troutdale Airport, east of Portland. The crash disrupted power lines and caused a brush fire in a nearby field. The National Transportation Safety Board is leading the investigation, with two agents dispatched to document the wreckage.
