The Kuki-Zo community members rallied in various parts of Manipur and New Delhi on Saturday, calling for action against Chief Minister N Biren Singh over an alleged audio clip implicating him in state violence.
In Manipur, rallies took place in Churachandpur, Kangpokpi, and Moreh, resulting in market and school closures. Protesters demanded a Union Territory for the Kuki-Zo people and condemned the audio clip.
In New Delhi, about 500 people, led by the Kuki Students' Organisation, protested at Jantar Mantar. They accused the majority Meitei community of targeting them since May 3, 2023. The Manipur government dismissed the audio clip as doctored and labeled the situation a conspiracy.
