Union Minister of State for Steel and Industries Bhupathiraju Srinivasa Varma has illuminated the vast tourism potential of Arunachal Pradesh's Upper Siang district.

During a visit to Gelling, a 'Vibrant Village' near the Sino-India border, Varma lauded the area's natural beauty and pleasant climate.

The Vibrant Villages Programme is a central initiative spotlighted in the Union Budget 2022, focusing on northern border villages with sparse populations and limited infrastructure. Varma emphasized Arunachal Pradesh's strategic defense importance and affirmed the Indian government's commitment to its economic growth.

Highlighting Prime Minister Narendra Modi's directive for focused attention on the northeastern region, Varma noted his visit as part of a broader mandate requiring union ministers to visit northeastern states bi-weekly to oversee central scheme implementations.

Responding positively to a proposal for establishing a Buddha Park at Gelling Circle, Varma also inspected the ongoing construction of essential infrastructure such as the civil terminal, Ledum suspension bridge, and Tuting monastery.

At a meeting in Tuting, the minister reviewed progress on central schemes with local officials, urging them to strengthen their efforts for the region's development.
