When the air raid siren howls in the dead of night, women in arms rush to their positions. Among them is 27-year-old Angelina, who has become adept at operating anti-aircraft machinery. As they wait to intercept Russian drones, these women, under the banner of 'Witches of Bucha,' find joy in neutralizing threats to Ukrainian civilians and energy infrastructure.

Women now play an increasingly vital role in Ukraine's territorial defense as more men are deployed to the front lines. These women, despite comprising a small fraction of the armed forces, are stepping into roles traditionally held by men. Col. Andrii Velarty, commander, confirms that at least 70 women have recently joined Bucha's defense forces.

From stay-at-home moms to doctors, these women are motivated by past horrors and a sense of duty. Having undergone rigorous training, they serve every two to three days, balancing day jobs with nighttime combat. For Angelina and her comrades, their contribution is about securing a peaceful future for their families and nation.
