Brazilian Telecom Operators to Block Access to Elon Musk's X Platform
The three largest telecom operators in Brazil, namely TIM Brasil, Telefonica Brasil, and Claro, are set to block access to the messaging platform X, owned by Elon Musk, following an order from the Supreme Court. This move is in accordance with directions from telecom regulator Anatel.
The three largest telecom operators in Brazil have informed telecom regulator Anatel that they will block access to the messaging platform X in Brazil starting at midnight local time, locals news site UOL reported on Friday, citing information from Anatel. The operators—TIM Brasil, backed by Telecom Italia; Telefonica Brasil, the local unit of Spain's Telefonica; and America Movil's Claro—are complying following directives from Anatel, said the head of Anatel, Carlos Baigorri, according to UOL.
Anatel announced on Friday that it will proceed with suspending access to Elon Musk's X social network in the country in compliance with an order from a Supreme Court judge involved in a protracted legal dispute with the billionaire investor.
