Senior Congress leader Nana Patole has criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi's apology for the collapse of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj statue, stating that the incident has 'hurt the pride of Maharashtra.'
In an address in Palghar, PM Modi expressed regret and apologized to the 17th-century Maratha warrior's followers, calling Shivaji Maharaj their 'deity.'
Patole stressed that mere apologies are insufficient. He asserted that PM Modi, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, and Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar should be held accountable and possibly resign. Otherwise, the people of Maharashtra might take matters into their own hands.
