The Centre for Asian Philanthropy and Society (CAPS), GuideStar India, and the Centre for Advancement of Philanthropy (CAP) released India's standing in the Doing Good Index 2024 report. This biennial study reveals India's consistent position in the 'Doing Okay' cluster since 2018, emphasizing strengths and areas for improvement in the social sector.

According to CAPS CEO Dr. Ruth Shapiro, trust in social sector organizations is declining. While wealth and philanthropic activities in India grow, the stringent regulatory environment poses challenges. ''We need to build more trust,'' Shapiro noted.

The report also highlighted increasing use of digital technology among social sector organizations, despite gaps in cybersecurity measures and access to digital tools. The regulatory landscape remains complex, affecting funding from domestic and foreign sources. Nonetheless, India's progressive CSR policy has led to an uptick in corporate funding.
