Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy laid the foundation stone for a statue of 'Telangana Thalli' in the state secretariat complex on Wednesday.

The 'Telangana Thalli' statue is scheduled for inauguration on December 9, commemorating the 2009 announcement by then Union Home Minister P Chidambaram to initiate the formation of Telangana, and Congress Parliamentary Party chairperson Sonia Gandhi's birthday, pivotal in realizing Telangana statehood demands.

Reddy highlighted the previous BRS regime's failure to prioritize the 'Telangana Thalli' despite spending Rs 22.50 lakh crores over ten years. The statue, symbolizing pride and inspiration, is being designed by the principal of a state-run fine arts college.

In an informal press interaction, Reddy discussed the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRA) and its recent efforts to remove illegal structures from water bodies, including those of influential figures, to prevent further encroachments.
