Singer Halsey has announced her fifth studio album, 'The Great Impersonator.' The pop star, who uses she/they pronouns, unveiled a decades-spanning trailer for what she describes as a 'confessional concept album,' according to People. In the teaser, Halsey shares, 'I really thought this album would be the last one I ever made.'

The video features the 29-year-old 'You Should Be Sad' performer in various retro attires and hairstyles, contemplating her possible career paths in different eras. 'What if I debuted in the early 2000s? The '90s? The '80s? The '70s?' she muses in a voiceover. 'Am I still Halsey every time? In every timeline, do I still get sick? Do I become a mom?'

Halsey pays homage to musicians like David Bowie and Britney Spears in the video, which also includes snippets of unreleased tracks by the three-time Grammy nominee that capture the sound of different decades. The trailer concludes with the caption, 'The Great Impersonator: A Confessional Concept Album by Halsey.'

In anticipation of the album's release, Halsey has already released three singles: 'The End,' 'Lucky,' and most recently, 'Lonely Is the Muse.' After releasing 'The End,' she took to Instagram to update fans on her health challenges, revealing that she's been diagnosed with Lupus SLE and a rare T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder, both of which are being managed or are in remission.

Last month, Halsey expressed her apprehension about returning to the public eye in a Tumblr post. She shared that negative comments from some fans make her 'regret coming back.' Despite this, she remains thankful for the support received and aims to continue her musical journey.
