Pavel Durov, the founder and CEO of the popular encrypted messaging service Telegram, was detained at a Paris airport, as reported by French media on Sunday.

According to broadcasters LCI and TF1, Durov was taken into custody at Paris Le Bourget airport on Saturday evening after arriving from Azerbaijan. Investigators from the National Anti-Fraud Office, linked to the French customs department, informed him of his detention.

French prosecutors refrained from commenting on the arrest, adhering to regulations during an ongoing investigation.
