Renowned actor Siddique resigned as the general secretary of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (A.M.M.A.) on Sunday, following sexual assault allegations levied by a female actor on August 24.
Speaking to a television channel, Siddique confirmed that he had sent his resignation letter to the President of A.M.M.A., Mohanlal.
The female actor accused Siddique of sexually abusing her after inviting her for a movie discussion. The allegations are part of a broader controversy in the Malayalam film industry, highlighted by the release of the Justice Hema Committee report, which details numerous incidents of casting couch and sexual abuse.
