Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Friday lauded the Bombay High Court's order restraining any individual or party from initiating a Maharashtra bandh over the Badlapur incident, describing it as a significant setback for the Opposition.

The High Court's directive came in response to petitions challenging the call for a general strike, effectively asking the state government to take preventive measures against such moves. Speaking at the launch of the 'Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin' scheme, Shinde condemned the Badlapur incident, where two young girls were allegedly sexually assaulted, calling it a 'blot on humanity.'

The chief minister noted that while such incidents mar beneficial schemes like 'Laadki Bahin,' the Opposition has been politicizing the matter. The court's order, he asserted, is a rebuke to the Opposition, and his government is determined to uphold it. Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis echoed Shinde's sentiments, criticizing the Opposition for what he termed politically motivated actions.
