Bihar Governor Raises Concerns Over Goa's Perceived Disconnect From Indian Identity

Bihar Governor Rajendra Arlekar claimed that Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru once described the people of Goa as 'Ajeeb'. He argued that there's an ongoing effort to portray Goa as disconnected from India. Addressing a gathering, Arlekar stressed the importance of Goa's integration into Indian identity and advocated for compulsory military training for government job aspirants.

Bihar Governor Rajendra Arlekar, in a statement on Wednesday, claimed that Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru had once referred to the people of Goa as 'Ajeeb'.

Speaking at a function to send 'Rakhis' to soldiers, Arlekar, who hails from Goa, argued that certain individuals aim to create a perception that Goa lacks cultural and historical ties with the rest of India.

Arlekar emphasized that Goa is an integral part of 'Bharat-mata' and criticized efforts to portray the region as different. He further advocated for compulsory military training for all aspiring government job applicants to instill discipline.
