In a landmark development, two women officers from the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) have taken part in an overseas deployment on a patrol vessel for the first time.
The ICG's offshore patrol vessel Sujay made a significant port call at Jakarta on Wednesday, marking its ongoing mission to East Asia.
This groundbreaking initiative aims to highlight the role of women in maritime security and safety. The crew of Sujay is set to engage in professional interactions with their Indonesian counterparts, focusing on marine pollution response, maritime search and rescue, and maritime law enforcement.
The vessel's two-day visit to Indonesia will also see professional engagements with the Badan Keamanan Laut Republik Indonesia (BAKMALA), the Indonesian Coast Guard.
