Hollywood actor, film director, and producer Meg Ryan was honored with the Honorary Heart of Sarajevo at the Sarajevo Film Festival late Tuesday for her outstanding contributions to the film industry.

Ryan was one of four film artists recognized, including US and Palestinian directors Alexander Payne and Elia Suleiman, and US actor-producer John Turturro. Festival director Jovan Marjanović lauded her incredible talents before presenting her with a silver heart-shaped award. She marked the occasion by presenting a special screening of her 1998 romantic comedy 'You've Got Mail' in the same open-air cinema where it debuted at the festival in 1999.

At a masterclass moderated by Oscar-winning Bosnian director Danis Tanovic, Ryan discussed her latest film 'What Happens Later,' which she directed, wrote, and co-starred with David Duchovny. She shared that her initial venture into acting was to fund her journalism studies and that her 'beginner's mind' was a significant asset in her artistic journey.

The Sarajevo Film Festival, established by film enthusiasts during the Bosnian war 30 years ago, will showcase 240 films this year, continuing its tradition of celebrating cinema from Vienna to Istanbul.
