The picturesque Sher-i-Kashmir International Convention Centre, set against the serene backdrop of Dal Lake, is currently buzzing with a literary symphony as bibliophiles swarm the ongoing Chinar Book Festival. Housing over 200 stalls, the festival has drawn in a crowd of around 5,000 on its inaugural day, a testament to its allure.
Organized by the district administration with the collaboration of National Book Trust, National Council for the Promotion of Urdu Language, Indian Council of Historical Research, and the Indian Space Research Organisation, the event promises a vibrant confluence of books, literature, and culture.
Offering a vast array of books spanning different languages and genres, the 60,000-square-feet festival space also features a digital reading zone with access to over 1,000 books from various publishers for free. A photo exhibition detailing the region's rich history and culture, along with workshops on creative writing, calligraphy, and more, further enhance the festival's appeal.
