A nurse from a private hospital was allegedly raped and murdered, her face crushed with a stone, with her body found in a vacant plot in a Uttar Pradesh village near the Uttarakhand border, authorities disclosed on Friday.
She had been missing since July 30 when she failed to return home from work. Her body, discovered on August 8 in Dibdiba village, was identified through CCTV footage and mobile tracking, as per Superintendent of Police Manjunath TC.
Dharmendra, the accused, reportedly looted her belongings post-assault and fled, later being apprehended in Rajasthan on August 13. The chilling crime has provoked protests, paralleling the recent rape and murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata.
