Prime Minister Modi to Address Indian-American Community at Major Diaspora Event in Long Island
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to address the Indian-American community in Long Island on September 22 during his US visit for the UN General Assembly session. The event marks the continuation of Modi's engagement with the diaspora, with previous notable events held in 2014 and 2019.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address members of the Indian-American community at a major diaspora event in Long Island next month, coinciding with his trip to the US for the high-level UN General Assembly session.
The community event on September 22 will take place at the 16,000-seater Nassau Coliseum. Modi's address at the high-level UN session is scheduled for September 26. Preparations for the Long Island event are in full swing, reflecting the significance of his engagement with the diaspora, last marked by a gathering at Madison Square Garden in 2014 and the 'Howdy Modi' event in Houston in 2019 with then-US president Donald Trump.
This year's high-level General Debate of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly will happen from September 24-30. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres will present his report before the general debate kicks off, with subsequent addresses including US President Joe Biden's final term address to global leaders on September 24. Additionally, the Summit of the Future, featuring world leaders, is scheduled to develop a new international consensus for effective global cooperation.
