Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday emphasized the importance of indigenous design capabilities and stressed the creation of products catering to both domestic and international markets.
During the 78th Independence Day celebrations, Modi introduced the phrase 'Design in India, Design for the world.' He argued that India is known for its quality and should now focus on design, aiming to make Indian standards the global benchmark. 'We have immense talent in design, and we can contribute significantly to the world,' Modi stated.
He further highlighted the interest of global companies in investing in India, urging state governments to compete to attract these investments and calling it a 'golden opportunity' for making India a global manufacturing hub. He also stressed comprehensive skill development through the 'Skill India' program and propagated the 'Vocal for Local' mantra to sustain the country's economy.
