The Kerala High Court has dismissed a plea challenging the release of the Justice K Hema Committee report, which examined the hardships faced by women in the Malayalam film industry. The court ordered the report to be published within one week.
Justice V G Arun ruled that the petitioner, Sajimon Parayil, a film producer, was not an aggrieved party in this case, as stated by his lawyer Saiby Jose Kidangoor. The detailed court order is still pending release.
The petition challenged the State Information Commission's July 5 directive for the State Public Information Officer to disseminate the report while ensuring privacy. The committee was formed after the 2017 actress assault case involving actor Dileep and examined issues of sexual harassment and gender inequality in Malayalam cinema.
