Well-regarded within the Mumbai media circle, Bandekar had a career spanning over four decades and was a favorite of Bollywood celebrities such as Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, and Shah Rukh Khan. He started feeling uneasy after returning from a family dinner and was quickly taken to the hospital by his son, where he was declared dead on arrival.
Several leading actors, including Ajay Devgn, Bipasha Basu, and Neil Nitin Mukesh, paid their condolences on social media, expressing their grief and admiration for Bandekar's work. The last rites are currently underway.
