Disney and Pixar have offered an exciting first look at 'Toy Story 5' during the D23 Expo held on August 9 in Anaheim, California. Fans can expect the return of beloved characters Woody, Buzz, Jessie, and the rest of the gang for another thrilling adventure slated for release in the summer of 2026, as reported by People.

Pixar took to Instagram to tease fans further, urging them to 'get excited for their next chapter' featuring a host of familiar faces. The upcoming film aims to introduce a fresh twist by delving into the intersection of toys and technology.

Director Andrew Stanton elaborated on this new direction at the D23 event, stating, 'This time around, it's toy meets tech. It's going to be fun, and we can't wait for you all to see it in the summer of 2026.' 'Toy Story 5' will continue the storyline after the 2019 film 'Toy Story 4,' which saw Woody and Buzz Lightyear part ways. The new film aims to reunite these iconic characters along with some new faces for another captivating journey.

The unveiling of 'Toy Story 5' comes on the heels of Disney CEO Bob Iger's announcement in February 2023 that the company is working on sequels for both 'Frozen' and 'Zootopia.' Pete Docter, Pixar's Chief Creative Officer and one of the original creators of the 1995 'Toy Story' film, has promised that this fifth installment will be filled with surprises and new elements never seen before.

Tim Allen, the voice of Buzz Lightyear, also shared his excitement about the sequel last November, hinting that it could be an intriguing way to bring the franchise's beloved characters back together. 'Toy Story 5' is scheduled to hit theaters in the summer of 2026.
