Kay Kay Menon on Staying True to the Script in 'Shekhar Homes'
Seasoned actor Kay Kay Menon emphasizes the importance of staying true to the script and avoiding the pressures of fame to deliver genuine performances. His latest series, 'Shekhar Homes,' inspired by Arthur Conan Doyle's works, showcases his talent in the OTT space, despite challenges for small-budget films.
Seasoned actor Kay Kay Menon doesn't let fame or external pressures affect his performance, asserting that it can hinder an artist's ability to deliver a genuine portrayal.
For Menon, the script is the ultimate guide, serving as his 'summum bonum,' a Latin phrase meaning the ultimate goal. His latest series, 'Shekhar Homes,' draws inspiration from the literary works of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, known for creating Sherlock Holmes. As Menon explained to PTI, the truth lies in the text in front of him, guided by the director's and writer's inputs.
Menon's acclaimed roles include memorable performances in films like 'Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi' and 'Haider.' In 'Shekhar Homes,' he portrays a detective whose eccentricity leads him to an unexpected ally, played by Ranvir Shorey. Despite the boon OTT platforms have provided actors, Menon notes the continued challenges small-budget films face in finding a platform. Directed by Srijit Mukherjee and Rohan Sippy, and featuring Rasika Dugal and Kirti Kulhari, the show will premiere on JioCinema on August 14.
