Amit Palekar, head of the Goa unit of the Aam Aadmi Party, has filed a complaint with the Panaji police, accusing the organisers and promoters of the Sunburn music festival of fraud, deception, and cheating.
Palekar pointed out that, despite public statements from Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte that no application had been received for the festival, the organisers were already selling tickets. He argued that this misleads the public and raises serious concerns about the legality and safety of the event.
'I personally bought a ticket for December 28. I have been cheated in this manner. Imagine how many thousands of people they are cheating by selling tickets for an event for which no permission has been granted,' Palekar claimed. A senior official from the Panaji police station confirmed that the complaint is under examination.
