President Murmu Receives Timor-Leste’s Highest Civilian Award
President Droupadi Murmu was awarded the Grand-Collar of the Order of Timor-Leste for her contributions to public service, education, and social welfare. During her visit, she had extensive talks with President José Ramos-Horta to enhance bilateral cooperation in various fields, reflecting the strong ties between India and Timor-Leste.
President Droupadi Murmu was ceremoniously awarded the Grand-Collar of the Order of Timor-Leste by President José Ramos-Horta on Saturday, recognizing her significant contributions to public service, education, social welfare, and women empowerment.
The accolade, the highest civilian award in Timor-Leste, was bestowed upon the Indian president during her historic visit to the Southeast Asian nation, marking the first presidential trip from India to Timor-Leste.
During her stay in Dili, President Murmu engaged in extensive discussions with President Ramos-Horta aimed at bolstering bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors, including IT, digital technology, health, agriculture, and possibly joining the International Solar Alliance.
