Transform Rural India (TRI) and IIT Bombay have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to jointly promote technologies specifically tailored for the rural population in Jharkhand. The announcement was made on Wednesday during the fourth edition of the India Rural Colloquy (IRC) in Ranchi.

Targeting rural development, the event saw the launch of the Birsa Harit Fund under the Birsa Harit Gram Yojana. This initiative aims to support one lakh farmers with financial aid totaling about Rs 500 crore over the next 20 years, said Dipak Biruwa, the minister overseeing the SC, ST, Minority & Backward Caste and Transport sectors.

Ajay Nath Jha, Tribal Welfare Commissioner, emphasized the need for a non-governmental body to assist Adivasi youth in securing employment and higher education opportunities. The collaborative efforts of TRI and IIT Bombay are expected to address challenges in agriculture, employment, climate resilience, health, gender inclusivity, and education in rural Jharkhand.
