In a recent interview with Women's Health, acclaimed 'Star Wars' actress Daisy Ridley revealed her ongoing battle with Graves' disease. The autoimmune disorder, which leads to an overproduction of hormones in the thyroid, has affected her significantly, Variety reported.

Graves' disease, known to cause symptoms such as shakiness, heat sensitivity, weight loss, and skin irritation, began impacting Ridley following her intensive work on the thriller 'Magpie'. The actress initially attributed her increased heart rate, rapid weight loss, exhaustion, and trembling hands to the stress of the role. 'I thought, Well, I've just played a really stressful role, presumably that's why I feel poorly,' Ridley reflected.

Upon consulting with an endocrinologist, Ridley learned that her symptoms were indicative of Graves' disease, often described as feeling 'tired but weird.' 'It was funny, I was like, Oh, I just thought I was annoyed at the world,' Ridley shared. 'But turns out everything is functioning so quickly, you can't chill out.'

Post-diagnosis, Ridley has committed to managing her health, including eliminating gluten from her diet and engaging in holistic wellness practices such as infrared saunas, cryotherapy, and acupuncture. She now also carries rose quartz, believed to alleviate emotional turmoil and enhance inner peace. 'I do a fair amount of the holistic stuff, but I also understand that it is a privilege to be able to do those things,' Ridley added.

Ridley's revelation brings to light the challenges faced by individuals with Graves' disease, drawing parallels to other public figures like Wendy Williams, who also shared her battle with the condition in 2018, leading to a temporary hiatus from her talk show, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
