Actor Akili McDowell, famed for his roles in television series 'David Makes Man,' 'Billions,' and 'The Astronaut Wives Club,' faces serious charges after allegedly shooting a man in Houston.

The Harris County sheriff's office charged 21-year-old McDowell last week with the murder of 20-year-old Cesar Peralta on July 20. McDowell is currently held on a USD 400,000 bond. His attorney has not offered any public comments, though his manager Jonell Whitt expressed sympathy for all affected by the incident.

Authorities reported that deputies found an unresponsive victim with gunshot wounds at a Houston apartment complex following a physical altercation. McDowell allegedly fled the scene on foot.

'David Makes Man,' broadcasted on Oprah Winfrey's OWN network, featured McDowell as a teen balancing school life and neighborhood struggles. He also appeared in 'Billions' and 'The Astronaut Wives Club,' with a recent role in 'The Waterboyz.'
