Actor Vijay Varma is poised to captivate audiences as he headlines the gripping series 'IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack'. The project, also starring Naseeruddin Shah, Pankaj Kapur, Arvind Swamy, Dia Mirza, Patralekhaa, Amrita Puri, Anupam Tripathi, Kumud Mishra, and Manoj Pahwa, will premiere on Netflix on August 29.

On Saturday, the creators unveiled the show's teaser. According to them, the six-episode series plunges viewers into the harrowing reality of passengers and crew trapped 30,000 feet in the air. With each second fraught with tension, the narrative follows an unstoppable Indian team racing against the clock to decode the hijackers' demands and ensure the safe return of those on board.

The series draws from the real-life hijacking of IC-814 by five terrorists on December 24, 1999, shortly after departing from Kathmandu. The aircraft, with approximately 180 passengers, was held hostage for seven days, traveling from Kathmandu to Amritsar, Lahore, Dubai, and finally Taliban-controlled Kandahar, where passengers were released on December 31, 2000. In addition to this role, Vijay Varma will soon appear in the crime drama series 'Matka King'.

'Matka King' is a fictional story set in 1960s Mumbai. It traces the rise of an ambitious cotton trader who seeks legitimacy by creating a new gambling game, 'Matka', which democratizes a domain once exclusive to the affluent. The series features Kritika Kamra, Sai Tamhankar, Gulshan Grover, and Siddharth Jadhav in key roles.
