INS Shalki Docks in Colombo for Two-Day Visit
Indian Naval Submarine (INS) Shalki arrived at Colombo's port for a two-day visit. Welcomed by the Sri Lanka Navy, the submarine is set to host awareness programs, and its crew will explore local attractions. INS Shalki will leave Colombo on August 4, continuing a tradition of Indian submarines visiting Sri Lanka.
The Indian Naval Submarine (INS) Shalki arrived at the port of Colombo on Friday for a two-day formal visit.
Upon arrival, the submarine was received by the Sri Lanka Navy with traditional naval honors.
INS Shalki, a 64.4-meter-long submarine commanded by Commander Rahul Patnaik, is crewed by 40 personnel.
During the visit, Sri Lanka Navy personnel will participate in an awareness program detailing the submarine's operational features. Additionally, Commander Western Naval Area, Rear Admiral Chinthaka Kumarasinghe, welcomed the submarine's commanding officer at the Western Naval Command Headquarters.
The crew will also explore tourist attractions in the region. Concluding the visit, INS Shalki is scheduled to depart on August 4.
This visit follows previous port calls by Indian submarines such as INS Karanj in February and INS Vagir last June.
