Jimmy Carter's Centennial Jubilee: A Musical Tribute
Former President Jimmy Carter will be honoured with a musical gala in Atlanta ahead of his 100th birthday. The event, “Jimmy Carter 100: A Celebration in Song,” will feature various musicians and celebrity guests. Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit The Carter Center.
Former President Jimmy Carter will be honoured next month ahead of his 100th birthday. The Carter Center has announced a musical gala titled "Jimmy Carter 100: A Celebration in Song" at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta on September 17.
The event will feature an array of musicians including Chuck Leavell, D-Nice, Drive-By Truckers, Eric Church, GROUPLOVE, Maren Morris, and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chamber Chorus. Notable guests such as former Atlanta Braves star Dale Murphy, rapper Killer Mike, and actor Sean Penn will also be present. Additional guests will be announced closer to the event.
Carter, who served as the 39th president from 1977 to 1981, has been receiving hospice care at his home in Plains, Georgia, since February 2023. Despite his condition, he remains in good spirits and enjoys music. The event will celebrate the Carters' advocacy for human rights, public health, and democracy. Tickets, priced at USD 100, will be available through the Fox Theatre box office starting at 10 am on August 5, with all proceeds benefiting The Carter Center.
