Aditya Bhasin's 'Pata Lapata' Celebrated at Amity University Event
Amity University Noida celebrated Aditya Bhasin's award-winning documentary 'Pata Lapata,' which highlights the lives of the underprivileged. The event honored Bhasin, an alumnus of Amity, with the Amity Alumni Achiever Award and included screenings and discussions with co-producer Rashi Anand and other notable attendees.
Aditya Bhasin, the writer, director, and producer of 'Pata Lapata,' an award-winning documentary that captures the lives of the underprivileged, revealed that he was deeply moved by the conditions people live in and felt the story chose him. Amity University Noida held an exclusive screening of the film, which was co-produced by Rashi Anand, Founder and CEO of NGO Lakshyam.
The event was not only a celebration of the documentary's success but also a recognition of Bhasin's achievements, including receiving the Amity Alumni Achiever Award. 'Pata Lapata' offers a poignant look into the lives of ragpickers, beggars, and marginalized children, highlighting their harsh realities and societal neglect.
The documentary has earned widespread acclaim, securing the Best Director award at both the Cannes World Film Festival 2024 and the Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival 2024. During the event, Bhasin expressed his gratitude for the recognition, stating, "I am extremely honored to receive this award from Amity University." He dedicated the award to his team, family, and alma mater.
Ashok K Chauhan, Founder and President of Amity Education Group, praised Bhasin's accomplishments, calling the moment historic for the university and the country. Rashi Anand also addressed the audience, emphasizing the NGO's mission for social welfare and inspiring others through the documentary. Atul Chauhan, Chancellor of Amity University, praised Bhasin's passionate and diligent work, highlighting the significance of his contribution.
The event concluded with a panel discussion moderated by Gauri D Chakraborty, where Bhasin and Anand interacted with students about the documentary's impact and creation. Distinguished attendees included Pooja Chauhan, Chairperson of the Amity Humanity Foundation, and other notable figures from the Amity group.
