The opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympics was a majestic affair that delighted spectators worldwide. French mezzo-soprano Axelle Saint-Cirel stunned the audience with her powerful rendition of 'La Marseillaise' from the roof of the Grand Palais, a historic site near the Champs-Elysees recently restored for the event. Draped in a white dress and holding a large French flag, her performance set a patriotic tone for the event.

French rapper Rim'K added a contemporary twist with his tribute to Snoop Dogg, drawing applause from the audience. Pop icon Lady Gaga kicked off the ceremony with a mesmerizing performance, while French-Malian singer Aya Nakamura showcased her global appeal. She performed with the orchestra of the Republican Guard on the Pont des Arts, reflecting her musical achievements, including a double platinum album and numerous awards.

Highlights of the evening included a powerful performance by Marina Viotti and the band Gojira, who sang 'Ah, ça ira,' evoking the spirit of the French Revolution. The ceremony also featured extensive dance sequences paying homage to construction workers rebuilding Notre Dame after its 2019 fire. The Parade of Nations, led by Greece, saw athletes sail on the River Seine, with notable figures like Giannis Antetokounmpo carrying their nation's flag. As the ceremony concluded amidst cheers and emotional tributes, an airplane created a pink heart over Paris, sealing the event's heartfelt message of unity and peace.
