Glorious Silver Jubilee of Kargil Vijay Diwas at Bhisiana AFS

The Kargil Vijay Diwas silver jubilee was celebrated at Bhisiana Air Force Station, Punjab, honoring the bravery and sacrifices of Indian soldiers during the 1999 war. The silver jubilee of Kargil Vijay Diwas was celebrated at Bhisiana Air Force Station, Punjab, with great pride and fervor on Saturday. The event honored the bravery, valor, and sacrifices of Indian soldiers during the 1999 war.

The No.17 Squadron of the Indian Air Force, which operated MiG-21 Type-96 aircraft from Bhisiana AFS, actively participated in the anniversary celebrations. They undertook several reconnaissance and strike missions in 1999 to drive out enemy troops. An impressive aerial display was conducted, including paratroops by the Akash Ganga Skydiving team, and a flypast by Rafale and Jaguar jets. The Mi-17 1V helicopter performed Slithering and Small Team Insertion and Extraction operations, while the Su-30 MKI aircraft executed low-level aerobatics.

The event also featured a flypast in the 'Arrow Head' and 'Missing Man' formations by MiG-29 aircraft, honoring fallen heroes. Spectators were captivated by performances from the Air Force Band and Air Warrior Drill Team. Over 5,000 people, including school children, attended the event, which left an indelible impression of the IAF's 'Op Safed Sagar' operations on the young generation.

This celebration marked the 25th anniversary of India's 1999 Kargil conflict victory, featuring the successful employment of air power at high altitudes. The No.17 Squadron received 'Battle Honours' for their meritorious service. The solemn event included a wreath-laying ceremony and felicitations by notable guests, reinforcing a commitment to the nation's values of courage, dedication, and patriotism.
