Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the 46th session of the World Heritage Committee, marking India's first hosting of this critical UNESCO event from July 21-31.

The Director General of UNESCO, Audrey Azoulay, will also attend the opening ceremony at Bharat Mandapam, according to a statement from the Prime Minister's Office.

The event will draw more than 2,000 delegates from over 150 nations and will focus on proposals for nominating new UNESCO World Heritage sites and evaluating the state of conservation for 124 existing sites.
