The historical drama 'Shogun' amassed 25 nominations on Wednesday, leading this year's Emmy Awards contenders. The FX series will vie for the best drama against competitors like Netflix's 'The Crown' and Apple TV+'s 'The Morning Show.'

FX's 'The Bear' secured 23 nominations, setting a record for a comedy. The show's second season, which chronicles a Chicago sandwich shop's journey to become a world-class dining spot, is also a contender for best comedy.

Netflix's 'Baby Reindeer,' about a bartender stalked by a customer, garnered 11 nominations, including best limited series. 'Ripley,' 'Fargo,' and 'True Detective: Night Country' are among its rivals.

Netflix led all networks with 107 nominations, followed closely by FX with 93. HBO and its streaming service Max earned 91 nods. Winners will be announced during a ceremony on ABC on Sept. 15, chosen by nearly 22,000 Television Academy members.

This year's nominations saw a rise in diversity, with 36 first-time nominees. Japanese actors Hiroyuki Sanada and Anna Sawai from 'Shogun' are among them. Women of color dominated the comedy actress nominations for the first time.

Notable nominees include Indigenous actors Lily Gladstone and Kali Reis, Oscar winner Jodie Foster, and 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' star Larry David. Foster, nominated for 'True Detective,' praised her colleagues, while Carrie Coon highlighted the industry's struggle post-strike.

The ceremony follows the last Emmys held just six months ago due to delays from writer and actor strikes. This year's event promises to celebrate a diverse pool of talent across the television industry.
