Usha Chilukuri Vance has entered the national limelight following her husband JD Vance's selection by Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump as his running mate.

At 38, Usha could become the first Indian American second lady if Trump and Vance win the upcoming November 5 elections against incumbents President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. A notable legal mind, Usha, a graduate of Yale Law School, now works as a civil litigation attorney at Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP. She has previously clerked for Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Brett Kavanaugh during his tenure at the US Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit.

Born to Indian immigrants and raised in a San Diego suburb, Usha has been described by childhood friends as a 'leader' and a 'bookworm.' She met her husband, JD Vance, at Yale Law School and the couple married in 2014 in Kentucky. They have three children.
