Hollywood Mourns the Loss of Shannen Doherty at 53

Renowned American actress Shannen Doherty, celebrated for her portrayal of Brenda Walsh in the iconic 1990s TV drama "Beverly Hills, 90210," has died at the age of 53 after a prolonged battle with cancer. Doherty, who openly discussed her breast cancer treatment, passed away on Saturday. Her publicist, Leslie Sloane, confirmed the sad news on Sunday.

"The devoted daughter, sister, aunt, and friend was surrounded by her loved ones as well as her dog, Bowie," Sloane stated. The family has requested privacy to mourn their loss. Doherty first disclosed her cancer diagnosis in 2015 and had a brain tumor removed in 2023, with the cancer later spreading to her bones.

Doherty found fame in "90210" as Brenda, an honor roll student trying to fit into a high-society environment. Despite her onscreen success, her real-life clashes with co-stars led to her departure from the show in its fourth season. She later starred in "Charmed," although reports of behind-the-scenes issues persisted. Known as the 'bad girl' of the 1990s, Doherty acknowledged her past mistakes but stated she had grown both personally and professionally over the years.
