Delhi's iconic Humayun's Tomb is set to host India's first sunken museum, expected to be inaugurated soon, sources revealed on Sunday. The museum's opening is anticipated to coincide with the World Heritage Committee (WHC) session in New Delhi.
India will play host to the 46th WHC session from July 21-31 at Bharat Mandapam, marking its first time hosting the event. UNESCO has also scheduled the World Heritage Site Managers' Forum from July 18-25 at the venue.
The sunken museum will feature galleries, seminar halls, a library, and more, drawing design inspiration from the medieval baolis of northern India. Situated at the entrance of the World Heritage Complex, the museum aims to connect the historical trio: Nizamuddin, Sunder Nursery, and the 16th-century Humayun's Tomb.
