The Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee has accepted the resignation of Badrinath Dham's chief priest, Rawal Ishwari Prasad Namboodiri, on health grounds.

According to Temple Committee Chairman Ajendra Ajay, Naib Rawal Amarnath Namboodri has been appointed as the interim chief priest. His official duties will begin after a series of traditional rituals on July 13 and 14.

The ceremonies include tonsure, purification, and blessings from the outgoing Rawal. Amarnath Namboodiri will also take a ceremonial bath and visit sacred sites before entering the temple's sanctum sanctorum for the first time as the new Rawal.
