Renowned singer Angela Bofill, who is known for giving hits such as 'This Time I'll Be Sweeter', 'I Try', and 'Angel of the Night' passed away at the age of 70, reported People. She was an American singer-songwriter of Cuban-Puerto Rican origins. Bofill started her career in the mid-1970s. The ace singer was born on May 2, 1954.

As per the outlet, she passed away at her daughter's home in Vallejo, California. The shocking news about her demise was posted on her social media handle.

"On behalf of my dear friend Angie, I am saddened to announce her passing on the morning of June 13th," the post reads on Facebook. A second update added, "Just to clear up the confusion. On behalf of Shauna Bofill, husband Chris Portuguese, we are saddened but must report that the passing of Angela yesterday is indeed true. We thank Melba Moore and Maysa for their early condolences. Thanks for your many post."

The update was shared by her friend and manager Rich Engel. According to People, her funeral will be held at St. Dominick's Church in California on June 28 at 1 pm

Following prior health issues following the singer's two strokes in 2006 and 2007, there were rumours of Bofill's death in 2020. After taking a five-year break to concentrate on her health, Bofill expressed her happiness to the outlet in 2011.

She said, "I feel happy performing again. I need the crowd. In the blood, entertain. Any time a crowd comes to see me, I'm surprised. No sing no more and still, people come." Once, Engel shared about Bofill, "She had a rare voice. She could hit low notes and could hit high C. Her pitch was perfect."

She has faced a lot from stroke and other health complications including changes in her voice quality and it doesn't remain the same. However, she always remained positive. Bowfill started recording at a very early age almost in her teens. In 1978, her debut studio album, Angie, was released. In the 1990s, she kept making new albums. Her other successful singles include 'Let Me Be the One', 'Something About You', 'I'm on Your Side', and 'I Just Wanna Stop', reported People. (ANI)
