Ji Chang Wook to Lead in Korean Remake of French Thriller 'La Mante'

Korean heartthrob Ji Chang Wook is set to take on the lead role in the upcoming South Korean adaptation of the gripping French thriller series, 'La Mante.'

Originally titled "La Mante," which translates to "The Mantis" in English, the French miniseries made its debut on Netflix in December 2017. The Korean version is currently in production, spearheaded by Mega Monster and Merry Christmas, with filming scheduled to commence later in 2024.

Set in Paris, the storyline revolves around a relentless search for a psychopathic killer, drawing inspiration from the infamous Jeanne Deber, known as "The Mantis." The character of Jeanne Deber, a notorious serial killer who plagued the nation 25 years ago, offers her expertise to assist the police in capturing a copycat murderer. Placed in solitary confinement, she imposes a unique condition – she will cooperate only with Detective Damien Carrot, her estranged son. As a new serial killer emerges, Damien has no choice but to collaborate with his estranged mother, 'The Mantis,' to prevent a potential wave of terror in Paris.

The Korean adaptation is a joint venture between MEGA MONSTER and MERRYCHRISTMAS, two prominent production companies. The series is gearing up for production, with filming scheduled to begin in 2024.

Ji Chang Wook, celebrated for his versatile acting skills, is confirmed to portray the main character in 'La Mante.' His inclusion adds significant anticipation to the series, as fans eagerly await to see how he will bring this intense thriller to life on the Korean screen.
