In a captivating press conference held on December 28th for KBS’s upcoming Monday-Tuesday drama, Love Song for Illusion, lead actor Park Ji Hoon shared insights into his experience playing dual roles and the chemistry with co-star Hong Ye Ji.

Park Ji Hoon, known for his role in Weak Hero Class 1, expressed the challenges of taking on dual roles for the first time. He admitted, “Honestly, it’s my first time taking on a dual role. It would be a lie to say it wasn’t emotionally and mentally challenging.” Despite the difficulty, he emphasized his determination not to let it show, acknowledging the support received from his co-star Hong Ye Ji.

The actor revealed his motivation for choosing Love Song for Illusion right after Weak Hero Class 1, stating, “I don’t fear new challenges. I was intrigued by the idea of playing dual roles. I was nervous and scared, but I thought hard about how to best unfold this with the best direction and image.”

Director Lee Jung Sub, who attended the press conference, praised Park Ji Hoon’s performance in Weak Hero Class 1 and highlighted a particular scene that resonated with the character he envisioned for Love Song for Illusion. The drama features Park Ji Hoon portraying both the original personality of the prince, Sajo Hyun, and the prince’s dangerous, decadent, and self-indulgent second personality, Akhee.

Park Ji Hoon shared insights into his characters, stating, “Sajo Hyun is serious and has a sense of gravity. He’s a thoughtful guy, while Akhee… Many might think of Akhee as a bad guy, but I don’t think so. He’s a guy who acts for one woman.” He emphasized his desire to portray Akhee freely, allowing him to act close to his instincts.

The chemistry between Park Ji Hoon and Hong Ye Ji was also a highlight of the press conference. Hong Ye Ji described her co-star as an older brother, creating a comfortable working environment that enhanced their on-screen chemistry. Park Ji Hoon reciprocated the sentiment, praising Hong Ye Ji for her focus and expressing surprise at her performance.

As anticipation builds for Love Song for Illusion, Park Ji Hoon’s revelation about the challenges and joys of playing dual roles, coupled with the promising chemistry with Hong Ye Ji, adds an extra layer of excitement for viewers awaiting the drama’s premiere.
