Since its global release in June 2022, fans of the Danish romantic comedy-drama series "Baby Fever" have eagerly anticipated the announcement of Season 2. The wait is finally over, as Netflix Nordic officially confirmed the renewal in a tweet on August 21.

The tweet read, "Baby Fever returns with a second season! Josephine Park and the creators behind Baby Fever, Amalie Næsby Fick and Nikolaj Feifer, are back on set to continue the story of Nana and her somewhat unconventional road to motherhood."

The six-part Baby Fever drama, produced by ITV Studios and Apple Tree Productions based in Copenhagen, Denmark, follows the journey of a fertility doctor, portrayed by Josephine Park, who, after a night of revelry, finds herself inadvertently pregnant with her ex-boyfriend's child. The show garnered widespread acclaim for its unique premise and engaging storytelling.

Netflix has revealed that Baby Fever Season 2 will consist of six episodes, delving deeper into Nana's life as a new mother. The expanded synopsis provides insight into the challenges Nana faces as she strives to balance motherhood and her career. Now a mother to a two-month-old baby, Nana is determined to reclaim her position as a fertility doctor. However, this time, her old boss, Helle, demands no mistakes and no lies. Nana, played by Josephine Park, promises to mend her ways and excel at her job while grappling with the complexities of childcare.

The storyline takes an intriguing turn as Nana reluctantly invites her mother to live with her as a permanent babysitter/roommate, presenting a comedic yet challenging dynamic. With a new star doctor, Hampus, taking over Nana's role in her absence, and Mathias, the great love of her life, still in the picture unaware of his fatherhood, Nana finds herself entangled in a web of lies and truths.

Netflix clarified Baby Fever S2 as:

“In the second season of Baby Fever, we meet Nana (Josephine Park), now mother to a two-month-old baby. But, as much as she adores her child, Nana hates being on maternity leave. So she begs her old boss, Helle, to give her back her job. Helle grudgingly agrees: but no mistakes and no lies this time! Nana promises to mend her ways and do better, whatever it takes to become the world's best fertility doctor again! The only thing is she hasn’t given any thought to who will care for her baby while she’s at work. Reluctantly, she ends up asking her mum to live in as a kind of permanent babysitter/roommate from hell. But Nana has no choice because more than ever she has to excel at her job now that the perfect new star doctor, Hampus, has stepped into her shoes in her absence. Every day is a new mountain to climb, and to top it all, Mathias is still lurking in the wings. The great love of her life who got away, but also the love that doesn’t know he’s the father to Nana’s baby. More than ever before, Nana needs to lie, and conversely, more than ever she needs to tell the truth…”

Creators Amalie Næsby Fick and Nikolaj Feifer express their excitement about exploring Nana's character further and delving into the compelling stories within the fertility clinic setting. They are eager to introduce new characters while pushing the boundaries of comedy and drama in Season 2.

“We are thrilled and excited to be doing Season 2 of Baby Fever. We love Nana and simply don’t feel we’ve finished exploring her character or the fertility clinic as a setting because it holds so many compelling stories we want to share. Now we have the opportunity to introduce a host of new characters while letting our regulars from Season 1 push the boundaries of comedy and drama still further,” said the creators.

As for the release date, there are currently no updates on production or filming schedules. If production remains under wraps, fans can hope for the series to grace screens by the end of 2024, though this is purely speculative.
