Prepare for the highly anticipated Money Heist spin-off, "Berlin," debuting on December 29. The series delves into the backstory of Andrés de Fonollosa, aka Berlin, the terminally ill jewel thief from the original show. Pedro Alonso reprises his role, leading a stellar cast.

In this spin-off, explore Berlin's past, his pivotal role in planning the Bank of Spain heist, and his emotionally charged romance with Tatiana. The narrative unfolds through poignant flashbacks, revealing Berlin's multilingual genius.

Netflix has shared an exclusive sneak peek with Variety of one of the initial images from its upcoming series, "Berlin," created by Alex Pina and Esther Martínez Lobato, the masterminds behind "Money Heist." Unlike the original, this series is a vibrant Latin makeover of a U.S. heist format. Set in Paris during Berlin's glory days, the eight-part show promises a mix of heist, comedy, and romance.

Martínez Lobato mentioned, "We wanted to make something bright, very comfortable, and heartwarming as well as being a lot of fun, just needed to open up to Paris, that beauty, that air, that light."

"Berlin" marks Netflix Spain's continued success, with recent hits like "Society of the Snow" winning acclaim and becoming Spain's International Feature entry at the Academy Awards. The streaming giant's investment in Spanish productions has paid off, with Spain leading in global non-English Top 10 charts on Netflix.

Diego Ávalos, VP Content for Spain & Portugal, highlighted the global appeal of Spanish content, saying, "Spanish has a little bit of a leg-up on everybody else" due to its cultural affinity with Europe.

"Berlin," celebrating Latin passions and filmed mostly in France, is poised to be another hit in Netflix's Spanish lineup, which includes collaborations with renowned creators like J.A. Bayona and Alex de la Iglesia. Money Heist: Berlin premieres on Netflix on Friday 29th December 2023.
