In an interview in April 2023, Nicolo Laurent, then CEO of Riot Games, clarified that Season 2 won't be rushed, emphasizing the importance of getting it right. The unexpected success of Season 1 and a later-than-usual start contributed to the extended production timeline.

The Season 1 cliffhanger, with the Piltover council chamber meeting a fiery end, adds an extra layer of suspense to the upcoming season.
