Finally, ‘The Blacklist’ Season 6 gets a release date after a long wait. Shortly after the declaration of its premiere, the series gets a new timeslot. Instead of returning to its previous Wednesday timeslot, the highly-anticipated season will be aired on every Friday at 9 pm ET.
As far as the alternation in ‘The Blacklist’ Season 6’s timeslot is concerned, the avid followers are quite concerned about its further continuation after the sixth season. They consider the given timeslot for the series as ‘Friday night death slot’ (a perceived graveyard slot in the American television). Once a show is moved to a Friday night schedule between 8 and 11 pm ET, it is considered in the US on the verge of ending. Hence, fans are now having a common belief that ‘The Blacklist’ may also be canceled. One Reddit user has also commented that NBC has a history of 'throwing its lower-rated shows' to Friday nights. However, the good part is that despite the upcoming sixth season already missed its usual fall season premiere once, NBC didn’t reduce the series’ length and ordered for a 22-episodes run.
The upcoming episodes will focus on varied things, among which the lead characters Red Reddington (James Spader) and FBI special agent Liz Keen (Megan Boone) will get maximum coverage as their newly discovered link is shrouded in mystery. Although the official plot for the upcoming season is yet to be revealed, Liz is now aware of the long-hidden truth that Red is her biological dad after getting confirmation from the DNA test.
Another theory also pops up that Red might have manipulated the DNA results and pretended not to know about being linked to her, but the series creator Jon Bokenkamp hinted that they are truly linked to each other. The upcoming season is expected to have a cat and mouse game installment with Red incessantly giving his effort to manoeuver his way and Liz attempting to unmask to know who the real individual is, EconoTimes noted. However, Bokenkamp assured that the secret, which they have been hiding since the first season, will be revealed this time.
Never miss the official premiere of ‘The Blacklist’ Season 6 on Friday, January 4, 2019 on NBC. On the premiere night, the series will start at 8 pm for its two-hour episodes in tandem, while the next episodes will continue following the regular 9 pm ET schedule.
